Is God Fair? | 2 Thessalonians | 2:11-17

 • Series: 2 Thessalonians

This sermon is part of our series walking through the book of 2 Thessalonians. As we look at the chaos in the world around us, we may be reminded of the first century Christians in Thessolonika who faced constant persecution and eagerly awaited Jesus’ return. We hope to dive into what 2 Thessalonians teach us about Jesus’ return and how are we to live in light of that hope. Is God fair? This question often arises when we see disparities in wealth, opportunities, and access to the Gospel. In 2 Thessalonians Chapter 2, we explore this challenging question through the lens of divine justice and grace. The passage describes the coming of the lawless one and the strong delusion sent by God, raising questions about divine fairness. However, it clarifies that those who are deceived are not innocent; they refuse to love the truth. In contrast, God's grace and election are highlighted, showing that salvation is not based on human merit but on God's sovereign grace. While salvation is available to all, the transformative power of the Holy Spirit is what sets believers apart, enabling them to stand firm in their faith. Ultimately, God's grace, not fairness, is what offers us salvation and transformation.
