When God Seems Distant
• Series: Stand Alone Sermons
Feeling distant from God can be a challenging experience, but it's not uncommon. In 1 Samuel 3, we learn about a time when God's communication with His people had ceased. The priest Eli had grown spiritually blind, allowing his sons to commit grievous sins, which led to a breakdown in his relationship with God. In contrast, young Samuel was near to God and heard His call, marking the beginning of renewed communication with the people of Israel. When God feels distant, it's crucial to examine our own spiritual state. Are we like Eli, spiritually dull and distant, or like Samuel, close to God and ready to listen? By evaluating our relationships, engaging with Scripture, and seeking spiritual renewal, we can draw nearer to God and restore our communication with Him. Reflect on your relationship with God and take practical steps to engage with His Word and seek spiritual renewal.
